Staff tried "too hard and didn't get it quite right. Check- in was a painful experience. The room I stayed in did not have much natural light and the small window it did have was absolutely filthy. I advised the lady on reception at check out and she apologised and said she would pass this information on but I did not see her make a note of it so am very doubtful as to whether this feedback will be addressed.
- room was fine - the lounge with TV & computer for free use - The Jugged Hare! - service friendly/helpful (except: see below) - German daily Handelsblatt delivered to room (free of charge) on day of publication!
- reception noticeably less friendly than the rest of the staff - as on previous visit: walk-under shower is built for looks rather than purpose - not possible to get a strong water blast to wake you up... - a couple of light switches so elusive that electricity had to be turned off at the mains - room safe in such a dark location, even with lights on, THIS (elderly!) guest could not decipher the operating instructions & gave up
Location and convenient to what we wanted to do and see.
The bathroom shower/bath taps . It was difficult to work them and not obvious which was which!
Arrived very early and we were given a free upgrade to check in straight away. Staff were very friendly on arrival also. Room was very modern and the bed was the comfiest we have ever stayed in. We did not hear any noise at all during our stay. When we came to Check out they let us store our luggage there and the doorman even gave me his umbrella as it was raining outside. Could not fault the hotel and would 100% stay there next time!
Staff was co operative..
On Booked.net I had booked a junior suite which was suppose to be with a seating area, a kitchenett. But when we checked in we were give a very small room, like a shoe box with no seating. There was an oven kept on a small shelf. This was very upsetting, when we were booked for 7 nights and paying 280 pounds p/night. We wanted to cancel the booking but then they gave a bgiger room which was much better but nothing like a junior suite. Their breakfast was also like a 2 star one...no hot eggs etc..just basic bread, cheese & museli & tea/coffee.
Having to use 2 separate lifts to get to my room; the key card more often than not then did not work so had to go back to the desk to be told it was fine... Patently not! Then on check out (early morning) paid my outstanding bill in cash- they did not have enough change and asked if was it ok to owe me it- I could get it on my next visit.... The offer that perhaps I could pay for my stay on the next visit was not an option apparently!
I requested a high floor, I got it but in the smallest room where i could not move and very very different from what I have requested... than they moved me to an "underground" room.... so no middle term here....
Outside noise, rattling windows, style above substance
Even though it was a large suite, it was cramped
Good quality fixtures and fittings in rooms and excellent customer service.
staff were excellent Room very comfortable Location next to Barbican
Service was amazing! Equilalent to top 5 star hotels around the world.
Lights in bedroom did not turn off.
It was a truly lovely boutique hotel - the staff were very helpful and the service excellent - the room was quiet and spacious and we felt we were in a little haven of calm.
There was not enough "normal" tea bags I.E. morning breakfast in the room.
Great location snf good value
The tea cups were too small
Very nice room and lovely free Elmis products
